In the past couple of weeks i haven't had much time to do cooking because I was sick and on vacation during spring break. The next dish that i plan to make is Frittata because it is very good and relatively simple. I wanted it to be the first dish I made but i didn't really have the ingredients, so I made stuffed peppers instead. I really enjoyed tasting the stuffed peppers and was proud that I made them. The tricky part is going to be remembering how to make all the dishes.

Out of the oven
Stuffed Peppers
So the first dish I decided to make was stuffed peppers. I had to learn to cut onions and garlic. The onion juice squirted into my eye, which hurt really bad. I poured the onions into a pot with olive oil and began cooking. I had to dump for packages of ground beef into the pot and stir the meat. Next, I put canned tomatoes in a blender and poured that into the mix. While doing this, there was rice cooking that would later be put into the mix. Then, I had to chop parsley to add extra flavor to the stuffing. Finally, I poured the rice into the stuffing and put it in the refrigerator. The next day I cut the tops off of the peppers and filled them with stuffing, and let them bake for about an hour.
Ready to eat!

My Project Proposal

2/3/17
Hayden Weigel
Proposal: Learning to cook
Cooking ethics
Needs and Opportunities
Are you solving a problem for yourself or others? How will this project be a learning and growing experience? What is your goal?
When I get home from school, my parents aren’t home so if I learned to cook I would be able to make something for myself. This project could really help me if I ever wanted to go to culinary school. My goal is to get a basic knowledge of cooking and be able to make a couple of dishes.
Audience / Clients / Users
Explain who will benefit from your project. Who is your audience – who might be interested in following your blog and learning about your project?
Many different people including myself could benefit my project. It will help me by gaining knowledge of cooking, and it could help others who also want to learn to cook. It will also help me because I will learn to make a blog and it could also give other bloggers ideas.

Mentors
Who can help you with this project? Who will you need to contact and what will you ask them to commit to in helping you?
My mom can help me with this project because she knows how to cook and my dad because he knows how to grill. I will ask them for recipes and different elements of cooking.
Timeline
What is your monthly timeline for this project? I want to see a list of deliverables with deadlines. You may find that the timeline needs adjustment during the course of the year, which may be fine. Check in with me if that’s the case.

Product
What is the actual product you will show this spring? This project may or may not be made of atoms or bits, but you must have something to show. I’m not interested seeing a bunch of great ideas at the end of the year. I want to see things.
I will show pictures of meals that I learned to make throughout the second semester. I’m planning on bringing samples of something simple, and creating an overall summary of the project
Technology
You will have to use technology in some way on presentation day – think about how you can use the tools available to add life into your project and enhance what you are doing. (Video, laptops, apps, cell phones, music, etc.)
I can use my phone or a video recorder to create actual footage of me cooking something. I could take pictures of dishes and create a power point over the pictures
Reality Check
I am looking for you to shoot for the moon here and do anything you can dream of, but even moonshots need budgets. What equipment are you going to need? What other capital expenditures do you anticipate, and how will you meet them?
I am going to need different wheats, vegetables, meats, grains(etc.). I will need anything from pots to pans and other kitchen utensils, and I’m going to need a way to bring samples to school
Possible Roadblocks
What other roadblocks can you predict – time, resources, motivation etc. Explain what you might do when you come to each roadblock to reach your goal.
While cooking is cool and will be pretty fun, I might end up with a shortage in time. Cooking does require a decent amount of time. Another roadblock may be that I forget to get a specific ingredient that could destroy the dish or cause a shortage in time

Conclusion Wrap it up. Why are you fired up about this project? Inspire me to support you, and give me a great reason to approve your project.    I am fired up about this project because I have always wanted to cook meals for myself. You should support me because I will make great food and bring it into the class so that everyone can get samples and give me tips on what I could do better and request for me to make something new.

My Journey to Learn to Cook

I am Hayden Weigel and my 20% time project is learning to cook. My goal for 2017 is to get a basic knowledge of cooking, and to learn about many different cooking styles!
